The UFS-NGS Unit will host an intermediate-level bioinformatics workshop focused on shotgun viral metagenomics. This hands-on training is designed for researchers with prior experience in NGS data analysis who want to deepen their skills in viral detection, genome assembly, and taxonomic profiling from complex metagenomic datasets. Participants will gain practical experience with analytical workflows, quality control methods, and interpretation of viral metagenomic results for research and surveillance applications. The 2026 bioinformatics workshop will take place early July at UFS, Bloemfontein campus.
