In the bid for further training, knowledge exchange and integrated research collaboration on genomics
and antimicrobial resistance, the University of Virginia, Division of Infectious Diseases & Int’l Health
hosted a UFS-NGS Unit representative, Dr. Emmanuel Ogunbayo, from 17-23 September 2023.
Dr. Ogunbayo described the visit as a great step towards pioneering the collaborative partnership between the two great institutions. In his words, “My visit was an inspiring moment of learning which did not only broaden my horizon but also serves to pave way for other scientist/colleagues in the Unit. I look forward to implementing the gained knowledge and insights towards the development of genomic- clinical research at the UFS-NGS Unit and in South Africa at large. I am grateful to my mentor Prof. Martin Nyaga, for his unwavering support towards my personal and career development”.
