The team at the UFS-NGS Unit report a study that looked into the proteome profile in different human body sites of patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The findings of the study, which were published in the Public Library of Science (PLOS ONE), indicated that urine and BALF had significantly more abundant SARS-CoV-2 proteins than the gargle solution and nasopharyngeal sites. The data demonstrated that a given body site is characterized by a unique set of proteins in SARS-CoV-2 seropositive individuals. This information contributes to knowledge in understanding SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis.
